The Dead Sea Scrolls teach that salvation would come through the Messiah. The Messiah would be born King of a special nation (Israel). Before the nation of Israel formed it was prophetically called the "Plant of Righteousness." The scrolls also teach that Shem knew that the man whom God would use to start this "Plant of Righteousness" would be his descendant.

In 1948 AM (1978 BC), 292 years after the Flood, Shem's tenth generation descendant, Abraham, was born. God made His covenant with Abraham when Abraham was seventy years old, in 2018 AM (1907 BC). The year 1948 AM was in the first Jubilee of the sixth century of the third week.
